Anthropic Extends Free Access to Claude Fable 5 on All Paid Plans

Anthropic has announced that Claude Fable 5, its latest and most advanced AI model, is now available at no additional cost to all paid plan subscribers. The move is seen as a strategic play to attract users away from OpenAI's GPT-5 and Google's Gemini Ultra as the AI model wars intensify.

Previously, Claude Fable 5 required an add-on subscription that cost an additional $30 per month on top of the standard $20 Pro plan. By folding Fable 5 into all paid tiers—including Pro, Team, and Enterprise—Anthropic is dramatically lowering the barrier to entry for its frontier model. The move follows similar bundling strategies seen elsewhere in the AI industry. Claude Fable 5 has been well-received for its creative writing abilities, nuanced reasoning, and strong safety alignment. In internal benchmarks, it outperforms Claude Fable 4 on mathematical reasoning (+22%), code generation (+18%), and creative writing tasks (+35%). The model also introduces a new feature called “Chain of Draft,” which allows it to produce more efficient intermediate reasoning steps. Industry analysts note that the bundling decision reflects the commoditization of large language models, where differentiation increasingly comes from ecosystem integration, safety features, and pricing rather than raw benchmark scores alone.
