Reliance Jio Completes 5G Rollout Across 600,000 Villages, Launches Jio AirFiber 5G

Reliance Jio has completed its ambitious 5G rollout across 600,000 villages, making it the world's largest rural 5G deployment. Alongside, Jio launched Jio AirFiber 5G, a fixed wireless broadband service starting at ₹599 per month.

Jio's 5G network now covers 95% of India's population, spanning 8,000+ cities and 600,000 villages. The company invested over ₹2 lakh crore in spectrum, infrastructure, and backhaul to achieve this milestone. The AirFiber 5G service uses millimeter wave and mid-band spectrum to deliver fiber-like speeds to homes without laying physical fiber. Initial testing shows average speeds of 200-300Mbps with latency under 15ms.

Jio's 5G network carries over 400 petabytes of data daily, with an average consumption of 35GB per user per month — the highest in the world. The company has also launched Jio 5G Developer Platform, offering APIs for healthcare, education, and agriculture applications. The rapid 5G rollout has accelerated India's digital economy. Analysts estimate Jio's 5G infrastructure will add $450 billion to India's GDP by 2035, enabling innovations in telemedicine, precision agriculture, and smart manufacturing.
