Volkswagen Unveils ID. Golf: The Electric Icon Returns with 500km Range at €25,000

The Golf is back — and it's electric. Volkswagen has finally unveiled the ID. Golf, an all-electric version of its iconic hatchback that promises 500km of range and a starting price of €25,000. This is the car Volkswagen is betting will bring electric vehicles to the European masses.

The ID. Golf is built on Volkswagen's new MEB+ platform, which improves battery density by 20% over the original MEB architecture. The familiar Golf silhouette has been subtly evolved — more aerodynamic, with a closed-off front grille and a full-width LED light bar front and rear.

Pre-orders open next month, with first deliveries expected in early 2027. Volkswagen says it has the production capacity to build 500,000 ID. Golfs per year at its Wolfsburg plant.
